In our Vision setting series for 2024, 'Under the Figtree', in preparation for our parish Annual General Meeting, our Senior Minister, Robin Kinstead, will steer us through the Scriptures, as we discern together God's plans to grow us in faithfulness and fruitfulness as His Figtree family.

Saturday, 17 February | 3-4pm
FAC Foyer
|
It’s our privilege to enter the throne room of the Lord and ask for timely help. The Lord promises that when His people humble themselves together and pray, He will hear from heaven. The first of Figtree’s termly prayer days will be held next Saturday, 17 February, and is a chance for us to come together and pray for what God may do in us and through us a church. It will run from 3 – 4pm … you can come for either all or some of the hour, you can pray or just listen. A list of prayer points will be available on the day.

Worship and Teaching Night
|
Monday, 4 March 2024 | 7:30pm
FAC Auditorium
|
On Monday, 4 March, from 7.30pm, we will be holding a worship and teaching night at FAC. All ages and stages are invited. Psalm 96 says, “Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth”. So, in response all the songs we’ll be singing on the night are written by the Figtree Worship team, many of which we’ve begun to sing over the past year. We’ll hear a couple of short talks from our teaching team focusing on the Scripture passages from which the songs are written. If this is your regular LifeGroup night, you might want to consider bringing everyone along. It will be an enriching night of singing and hearing from God’s word. Sunday, 18 February 2024 | 2pm - 4:30pm
Central Sydney
|
Never Again Is Now is an event organised by a group of Christians who believe we need to stand against antisemitism and fight for the rights of Jewish Australians. Among the speakers will be former deputy prime minister John Anderson. Leaders of the Christian community will also be present, including Rev Sandy Grant from St Andrews Cathedral, and Director of Australian Christian Lobby, Michelle Pearse.
The event will be held in a large Central Sydney location, which, for security reasons, will be announced closer to date of the event. NSW Police and Community Security Group are involved to facilitate community safety on the day.

Alex Greenwich, the independent MP for Sydney, has introduced a second piece of legislation that will dramatically undermine religious freedom. He has called his bill the “LGBTIQA+ Equality Bill”. Far from promoting equality between members of the NSW community, it creates special privileges for certain people at the expense of other people’s rights.
Parliament has delayed the vote on the “Equality” bill debate until 14 March, giving more time to convince them to reject this bill. To add your name to the petition opposing this bill and/or to find out more, click on the button below.

Help us bless our community with home-cooked meals! We need your help to keep our Pastoral Care freezer stocked with meals for those in need.
To get involved, collect meal prep containers and food handling guidelines from the church office during the week or the Welcome Desk on Sundays, prepare meals at home and then drop back to the church office.
When preparing meals, take a moment to pray for those who will receive them through our Manna and Pastoral Care ministries.

Pray that God would develop in each of us a ‘heart attitude’; a heart tendency to turn to Him at each turn in our day. Pray that like the Apostle Paul, we would learn to ‘Devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2 Pray that we would develop an attitude of expectation in our prayers; that God would open our eyes to see how He is continually at work in and through each one of us. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 Pray that each of us would strive to make prayer an integral part of how we live out each day; to develop a habit whereby our first response is to pray – no matter the circumstances. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17

Ask God to bring about healing and lasting peace in Hindu-majority regions. Pray that Hindu nationalists will accept Christians as fellow Indians. Pray for persecuted believers to stand strong despite attacks, arrests, and mental trauma, finding strength in their faith. Ask God to protect and grow His Church in every part of India. Pray for the upcoming elections in India, that You would bring about an openness to allow Your people to follow You in freedom.
